Welcome! Last but not least, my name is Isabella Zeliger and I'm a graduate student in the P.D.H.T. (that's Publication Design and Hypermedia Technology) Program at John Abbott College in Ste-Anne-de-Bellevue, Québec. I'm loving this program, but it's a lot of work! Although, strangely enough, that fact doesn't scare me. So bring it on... I always give it my all.
I also have a D.E.C. in Fine Arts and as an Animal Health Technician. I love the arts and animals, two of my passions. My friends call my ménagerie the "Zeliger Zoo". It's got a certain ring to it. Unfortunately, I just can't say no to a stray.
So how did I end up here? Well I developed several allergies and could no longer continue studying in Dental Hygiene as per my doctor's orders and transferred over. I was elated that I got accepted. I seriously asked myself what I could see myself doing for the rest of my life and I literally read every single pamphlet available in the Registrar's office and decided upon P.D.H.T. It was a blessing in disguise, don't you think?
What else can I tell you... I speak five languages. I guess it's something that I have a knack for. They are English, French, Spanish, Polish and Portuguese. Mind you, not perfectly! But I can hold a conversation.
I'm an avid reader - I devour books. I can easily read several in one week. One day I hope to write one myself. I also love to paint and I would really like to take up ceramics, black and white photography and horseback riding again, if only I had the time and the money right now! Glass Blowing is something else that interests me and that I hope to try out one of these days. I'm also known to make my own jewelry such as bracelets and necklaces. I like that it's an original piece. I'm someone who thinks outside of the box and that, just sometimes, rules are meant to be broken.
What are my plans after I graduate? My aim is to enter the work-force and to find full-time employment in the graphic design field. I am very much partial to the "print" sector as opposed to "web". Coding can be challenging at times and being inclined to exercise the right hemisphere of my brain, I gravitate towards being more creative and less logical. It is my opinion that javascript and php are where the computer science people come in, to code the back-end of websites. Don't get me wrong, I can create a mean mock-up and build your basic site, however, with the more technically advanced items, I do require a little help, and I'm not afraid to ask.
I have had a wonderful three years in the P.D.H.T. program at John Abbott College and I highly recommend it to anyone interested in pursuing this career path. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the talented teacher's who taught me so much. I am truly, forever grateful.
Please note that this site has been created to be viewed both on a standard screen and on a mobile phone. So check out both versions for a different experience. It also validates as HTML 5 and CSS 2.1, but actually also contains CSS 3 code.
On a final note, so many things have happened to me over the past few years. But I believe that everything happens for a reason. The Buddhist nun Pema Chödrön writes "A warrior accepts that we can never know what will happen to us next. We can try to control the uncontrollable by looking for security and predictability, always hoping to be comfortable and safe. But the truth is that we can never avoid uncertainty. This not knowing is part of the adventure, and it's also what makes us afraid. The central question of a warrior's training is not how we avoid uncertainty and fear but how we relate to discomfort. How do we practice with difficulty, with our emotions, with the unpredictable encounters of ordinary life?" It's something to think about. Bad things happen to good people. But eventually good things come to those who wait. Blessed be.
